A Tribute to Jack Templemanby LCdr (Ret'd) Lyla Bilton CD & LCdr (Ret'd) George Bruce CD2
Jack Templeman was the Commanding Officer of our Sea Cadet Corps, The Royal Canadian Sea Cadet Corps John Travers Cornwell Victoria Cross, for seven years. He had been a Navy League Cadet and then a Sea Cadet before joining the Officer compliment of the Corps. He took on the huge task of Supply Officer. His work ethic and devotion were soon evident as he fitted out a big Corps of growing teenagers, including a Band who wore a second set of white uniforms. Summer camp time was another busy time and the return from camp when they had grown another two inches. He took great pride in turning out a Corps that was smartly dressed, with every piece of the uniform worn correctly, especially for parades and Inspection nights. His next appointment in the Corps was Commanding Officer. This was a big challenge since he had never been a deck officer. He accepted the position with a calm countenance and we again saw the dedication and devotion to the task at hand. His leadership style was by example. Jack was well respected by all who knew him, including the Cadets and Officers of the Royal Canadian Sea Cadet Corps John Travers Cornwell Victoria Cross. Farewell Sir. Rest in Peace.
