Quarterly Alumni Update
December 2017

As the holiday season approaches, your Alumni Team wanted to reach out to all our alumni and wish them Season’s Greetings! Read holiday wishes on our website.

As always, we are looking for pictures and stories of your time as a member of RCSCC John Travers Cornwell VC. Also, don’t forget to get your tickets to our draw for a chance to win a painting of the Corps badge (crest). Finally, think of getting Alumni Challenge Coins to use as stocking stuffers this year.

Be sure to visit our website (http://jtcvcAlumni.ca) regularly and join our Facebook group (JTCVC Alumni) so you can stay up to date on all the news and information about upcoming Alumni activities.

Season’s greetings,
The Alumni Team.

A very special thank you goes out to Hugh Walker (alumni 1966-1979) for all of his hard work making this project a reality.
Share Your Stories & Pictures
On Thursday, January 25, 2018 between 1900 and 2000 hours, members of the Alumni will be at HMCS Chippawa with a computer and a scanner, ready to scan in your pictures and record your stories. So, come on down to Chippawa and let us scan your pictures for you, tell us a few stories and see the Corps on parade. If you have electronic pictures, bring them down on a memory stick and we’ll copy them to our computer while you wait.
The Cornwell (Winnipeg) Branch and the Alumni Anniversary Committee are always looking for donations, so please keep us in mind when you’re making your end of year donations this year. Remember, your donations are tax deductible (you will receive a tax receipt in the mail in February). See the Branch website for details on how to donate.

Corps Cap Tallies
The Alumni are looking to acquire all of the different cap tallies worn by cadets over the years. We are currently looking for a R.C.S.C. cap tally, which was worn between 1943 and 1952 (shown in the picture to the left). If you have a R.C.S.C. cap tally that you would be willing to donate to the Corps, please contact your Alumni Team. For a complete list of cap tallies already acquired, see our website.
Chief & Petty Officers’ Mess Constitution
In 1962 the Chief & Petty Officers’ Mess drafted a constitution for the Mess. That Constitution, pictured to the left, has fallen on hard times. The Alumni would like to try and restore this document, but we require your assistance. A substantial piece on the left hand side is now missing. If you have a picture of the full Constitution, or if you were a member of the drafting party and remember the wording, your Alumni Team would dearly love to hear from you (AlumniTeam@jtcvcAlumni.ca). Full details.
Cornwell Branch Grey Cup Pool
The Cornwell Branch conducted their annual Grey Cup Pool again this year. Thank you to all of you that sold and bought tickets! A special thank you goes out to Noel Johnson for all the work he put into organizing the Grey Cup Pool!! This is an annual event, so mark your calendars now to make sure you don’t forget to buy your tickets next year.
Join the Alumni Facebook Group
The Corps would like to restrict the use of the RCSCC John Travers Cornwell VC Facebook page to posts about the Corps, so please post any Alumni related items on the Visit the Alumni Facebook Page. The Alumni will respect the Corps’ wishes and from now on only post information about upcoming events on the Alumni Visit the Alumni Facebook Page, so if you haven’t already done so, please join the Visit the Alumni Facebook Group, to be sure you don’t miss any upcoming events.
History of the Second 50 Years
The Alumni is hoping to create a history book for 1970 to 2020, similar to the one produced in 1972, encompassing all the stories and information submitted to the website. So, please send us your pictures and stories from your time as a member of RCSCC John Travers Cornwell VC. Full details.
